Seeing Beauty
Beauty is all around us, just many of us have trouble seeing it. A child for example can see life's beauty quite easily but as they grow up they begin to see the ugly as well. With this new found "sight" they are greeted with the phase "welcome to the real world, kid." Many of us become so calloused with the pain. poverty, and suffering that we see that we lose sight of the beauty out there. In the last few months I've been struggling with finding this long lost treasure. Being a p.k. (pastor's kid) you see a lot of the world's troubles. I have found myself in the last week or two staring out the window wondering at the pure beauty of a tree of flower. It is incredible how just sunlight can take an everyday tree and turn it into something from a painting, make the leaves glisten. In my case the tree outside my window is a eucalyptus and I love it. But beauty extends past just nature, it is applied to people too. Many of us, my self included, judge people more quickly then we should. We find ourselves passing strangers and automatically finding their faults and making assumptions. "Wow, her hair was ugly." "Oh, his clothes were tattered and dirty, gross." "His nose was to big." "Her jeans were too tight." And the list goes on and on. Why do we do this? I'll be honest, I don't know. Let's try to see the beauty in people. I know it's hard, especially if you don't like the person, but try it anyways. Instead of thinking "She looks ugly today" find something beautiful "i like her shoes, their cute." Then go farther with it. Instead of focusing on negatives in a person's personality or character focus on the positives. Instead of "he's so lazy" think "he's really smart." Beauty is all around us, sometimes we just need to work harder to see it. I have found that in changing the way I see others I create a happier and more optimistic me. :) Why don't you give it a try?

A busy life
Life is full of meaning. You just have to find it. This week my dad, brother, and friend, Stephen, left on a plane for India. They are visiting multiple cities and speaking at three youth conferences. Both boys are fifteen years old and are already impacting the lives of others. This is fantastic. However, the truth is, you don't need to travel to the other side of the world to impact another's life. Your words alone can make a difference. The challenge I have for you is to look for meaning in your life ths week. It cna make a difference to you and to those around you.
Peace out :)
